Thanksgiving mini-break

Now that the Thanksgiving weekend is over, I can get back to catching up on all of your lovely blogs. My sister and her boyfriend came down from Charleston, and I will say we did quite a good amount of adventuring. A mild cough and a couple pounds later, I'm going to have to get back into my routine, which means no more pie. At least until Christmas, lol.

Some photos of our weekend. :)

Sisters.

My love.

My sister's boyfriend, Brian, smoking hookah.

I'm kinda sad that they left today, but in three weeks Jim and I are headed to Charleston for Christmas! Good times will be had.

So grateful

So many things to be thankful for as Thanksgiving is fast approaching. I wanted to share with you all some great news. At 7:24PM yesterday, November 21st, my nephew, David Nicholas Burke was born.

6lbs, 10oz, and 19 inches

My brother, Adam, and his wife Andrea, now have a beautiful baby boy. He's so cute! He kinda looks like a little old man! Haha. These are pictures my brother sent me. I cannot WAIT to go see him. My brother lives outside of Orlando, FL, so he's almost four hours away. But I think in a couple weeks Jim and I will go up to visit. I absolutely cannot wait. I've never been around little ones before. (I'm the youngest in my family, and none of my relatives have children younger than me, except my cousin Mike, who is 21, so you see, I've never been around babies!)

This week has been jam packed with last minute Thanksgiving errands and such. I hope you all have a wonderful, happy Thanksgiving.

Another sushi post.

I can never stop myself. Tonight we went to Oh! Sushi. It just opened up in Doral, FL, and it its decor is too cute. The food was yummy, and they even have a small market inside. It's definitely a unique place here.

Green tea with apple slices? Yes please.

Our cheesy smiles. You know, the kind that starts to wane while you wait for the photo to be taken. ;)

Top: Rainbow Maki - crab, cucumber, cream cheese, avocado, assorted fish
Bottom: Wonder Maki - crab and cream cheese covered with tuna and avocado with sesame seeds
Oh yea, and pomegranate seeds!

Top: California Uramaki - cucumber, avocado, crab, sesame seeds and masago
Bottom: Happy Futomaki - tuna, salmon, and chive

The only thing negative I have to say is that the rolls were so big that it was hard to fit them in my mouth, much bigger than they look in the photos. I actually almost choked once because I could barely chew all the food in my mouth. But then again, how is that really negative? Nom nom! :P

I need to stop spending money.

Happy Friday everyone! A couple things I wanted to share with you today. First off, I was really bad and spent some money on my credit card at Sephora yesterday. Shame on me. From now on I'm going on a shopping ban. Period. End of discussion. But...I got some pretty sweet stuff.

I have a secret girl crush on Gwen Stefani, and I've been wanting to try one of her Harajuku Lovers fragrances. The one I picked is Wicked Style Music. After purchasing, I looked it up on Sephora.com

Notes: Juicy Apple, Jasmine, Swirling Cedar-wood.
Style: Cute. Woody. Floral.

This is totally my type. It's not overly floral; it really has the right balance of woody too.
Check her out. She's too cute.

Here's everything else I got.

I really needed a new blush and Two Faced Full Bloom in Sweet Pink was calling out to me. It goes on really nicely, and I was surprised at the glow it gave me. Also, I've heard so many wonderful things about Benefit Cosmetics from all you lovely bloggers out there so I picked up this $10 goodie which came with the That Gal face brightening primer, the PORE fessional, and the Stay Don't Stray concealer and eye primer. And I just tried them all this morning, and so far so good. The face brightening primer is seriously a hit. I cannot believe how much brighter it made my skin look. I'm hooked. :P I haven't tried the eyeliner yet, I can only hope my purchase was well spent. The free samples they gave me were Bamboo Volume Shampoo, Conditioner, and Plumping Strand Expand, and also perfume sample of Lolita Lempicka: Si Lolita. I honestly can't wait to try the shampoo. My hair is dreadfully thin and fine and I wish I had thick hair. :(.

I used the blush this morning, my skin looks slightly darker in my bathroom because of the lighting.

I finally got the Shabby Apple necklace in the mail that I won. It's so pretty. It doesn't bother my neck as much because of the length and also because its a pendant. Here are some crappy pictures. I seriously can't wait to get a new camera.

Unfortunately, the top I'm wearing isn't that color. It photographs horribly, and is actually a deep violet instead of the bluish indigo its appearing as.

Anyways, I know this may sound silly, but I wanted to thank all of you bloggers out there who have seriously awesome blogs and have helped me dive into the world of skincare and cosmetics. I'm a creature of habit, and I never used to experiment or try new products. It feels good to try new things. ;)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Lusting after accessories?

Me too. As much as I adore a new outfit, it's never complete without some stylish accessories. But if there is anything I prefer NOT to wear, its necklaces. I love them, I really do, but once I put them on I find that an hour later I just want to rip it off. I guess my neck is sensitive or something. I usually do wear them anyway, beauty is pain right? Something like that, only in my case, annoying. I guess its a love/hate relationship really. So here are a few accessories I'm lusting after. With a couple pairs of shoes sprinkled in the mix. ;)

Robin Ruffles Infinity Scarf In Olive - $21.99

“Danae” Trio Flower Indie Headband By Twig & Sparrow - $23.99

Audubon Blithe Bow Hat - $39.99

Washington Lace Up Boots - $41.99
I really....REALLY need these.

Red Vines Braided Elastic Belt - $13.99

Rococo Fold-Over Clutch In Navy - $29.99

Sinclair Avenue Oxford Booties - $37.99

Kaitlin Wool Plaid Purse - $49.99

These are all from Shopruche.com

Are there any accessories you can't live without? Or any you can't stand wearing?

Speaking of necklaces, I also wanted to give a huge thank you to Petite Panoply. I won my first giveaway that she held! I haven't gotten it yet, but I'll be sure to take pictures once it arrives. I won this beautiful Shabby Apple necklace.

Gorgeous, right? I'm so grateful! I don't really win stuff all that often haha. Go check out her blog! She is too adorable and has the cutest outfits. And trust me, I'll definitely be wearing this beautiful necklace. :)

Four day weekend and my Forever 21 cardigan

Hey guys! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Jim had a four day weekend for Veterans Day (my little active duty Sailor! ♥). So now he is currently playing Borderlands. I'll try to leave him in peace for his last day off.

I finally got my cardigan in the mail from Forever 21. It only took a week but it felt like a million years. And since I got it on Thursday, I pretty much wore it all weekend. It's really comfy and warm, but one of the buttons fell off after wearing it twice. And I knew it was going to happen. If you happen to love Forever 21, I'm sorry to say I disagree with you. The only reason I ever shop there is because I'm poor and can't afford much else. Still, lately I've been realizing that I really hate that store. Their clothing is cheap. Horrible quality. Every time I buy something from them, it either shrinks, rips, or falls apart. I bought a tunic from them once and when I received it in the mail it wasn't even made correctly - it was lopsided and tighter on one side. I can't seem to learn my lesson, but I think this cardigan may have been the last straw. And that stands beside the fact that they've had so many lawsuits over sweatshop labor and copyright infringement. Still, Jim sewed the button back on and redid the other buttons as well. Because he's so cool, and because I'm probably the only woman on the earth that can't sew. Negative points for me in Housewife 101.

On Friday we went to Sushi Joe, which is by far the best sushi I've had in Miami. It's a tiny little hole in the wall type restaurant, but the food was very authentic. And delicious. No seriously. Jim got a Top Roll, which was rolled tuna, salmon, crab stick, avocado, white fish, scallion, and masago, and I got a Rainbow Roll: tuna, salmon, white fish and avocado on top of crab salad, avocado, and cucumber. We also got some gyoza, and also zaru soba, because I love soba so much and I could eat that every day as well. I tried to take pictures but they dim the lights down in the restaurant really low. The pictures aren't so great but you can still see a little.

Eating green tea ice cream, which I've been craving endless since that night.

Some more pictures of our weekend.

This is the canal that we run on behind our apartment complex.

And here's how I'm wearing my cardigan today.
